The USDA-ARS Office of National Programs in Beltsville, Maryland is seeking a National Program Leader to provide leadership and direction for national and regional research programs related to grain crop improvement, production and protection. Specific responsibilities include leading and coordinating ARS grain crop production and protection research and providing leadership and direction for national and regional research programs. This includes assuring that the overall research project plans reflect national priorities and policies, coordinating and planning program strategy objectives and evaluating the content and progress of research programs, as well as providing technical guidance with early involvement in research planning. The candidate will also lead or participate in several interdisciplinary ONP implementation and operational planning teams, which are responsible for updating the Agency’s National Programs to reflect changes in national priorities and policies, establish and maintain communication with both ARS research leadership and scientists, as well as non-ARS research organizations, and act as a spokesperson to Area and Headquarters line managers for technical details of research.
The position is full-time and applications are being accepted through October 14, 2022. The anticipated salary range is $148,484 – $176,300 per year and moving expenses can be reimbursed. The position is not remote, but is telework eligible and occasional travel is required.
