The Center for Sorghum Improvement (CSI) is hosting a virtual seminar given by Jackie Atim, from University of California Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC-ANR) Kearney Research and Extension Center, on Tuesday, February 18 at 11 AM CT.  The title of the talk is, “Evaluating Sorghum Adaptation in California: Yield Stability and Forage Quality Under Irrigated Conditions.” Dr Atim will discuss sorghum adaptation in California, focusing on forage sorghum. In particular, she will discuss a study conducted from 2019 to 2023 in which 59 sorghum hybrids were tested across three University of California research farms in the Central Valley: Kearney REC (KARE), West Side REC (WSREC), and Davis. The primary objective was to identify genotypes with high yield potential and stability across diverse environments in California, an essential factor in meeting the state’s substantial feed demands for dairy operations and animal production.
