Texas Tech University (TTU) in Lubbock, Texas has been selected as the site of the third Global Sorghum Conference, which will take place September 14-18, 2026. Texas Tech is a university of 40,000 students that was given the Carnegie Classification of Very High Research Activity. Although diverse, the research focuses on rural resiliency, climate change, food security, and One Health, a center which studies the connection between environmental effects and the transmisability of zoonotic diseases, which is a threat to food safety and security. In the state of Texas, TTU is integral for higher education accessibility, research and innovation. The 2026 conference will focus on advancing collaboration between academia, government and national programs, non-governmental organizations, and the private sector. Texas Tech plans to use their role as host to encourage new research and collaboration on high-priority topics and strengthen the relationship between producers and researchers, as well as to work with the Global Sorghum Association (GSA) to promote the international importance of sorghum.
