The G2F initiative (www.genomes2fields.org), which has collected data on over 180,000 corn field plots including over 5,000 hybrids and 280 unique environments, is hosting a competition. The goal is to develop models to predict corn yield in the 2024 G2F trials based on the current G2F dataset and other publicly available data. The winner/ winning team will receive a cash prize or equivalent compensation of $4,000 along with expenses paid travel and registration (up to $1,200) to present their competition model research and findings at an international meeting (Maize Genetics Conference). In addition, the winner(s) will be invited to be the first author(s) on a manuscript presenting the findings of the competition and the different modeling strategies. All participants, regardless of their ranking in the competition, will be invited to be authors on the manuscript (subject to organizer approval and competition rules on the About tab on the competition web site).

Competition opens November 15 and closes January 15. Registration closes Dec 15.
